Get To Know Kim, Our Amazing Dental Assistant!

WE RECENTLY REALIZED THAT WE’VE probably wrongly assumed that ALL of you—our valued patients—know Kim as well as we do! That’s probably not the case.

So, We Asked Kim A Few Questions

We asked Kim some questions to help you get to know her a little better. Those questions are found below—along with her candid answers! Enjoy!

Where are you originally from?

“I grew up in Kansas and moved to California my junior year of high school.”

What made you decide that you wanted to become a dental assistant?

“I originally wanted to be a hygienist, but decided to go to school for assisting to see if I liked the dental field. Once I got into assisting I loved what I was doing and decided that it was the right path for me as opposed to becoming a hygienist.”

When you started as a dental assistant was there something funny that happened? Do you dare tell us that story?

“I have a few:

“The first time I ever cemented a temporary crown on a patient I was on my externship and the entire staff had gone to lunch. I didn’t know that you’re just supposed to line the inside of the crown with cement so I filled the entire crown up and ended up getting cement EVERYWHERE!! Even the patient’s nose! It took over a half hour (and the help of other staff members) to get the patient cleaned up.

“Another time I was taking x-rays on my sister and every time I was finished taking the x-ray the screen was completely blank. I couldn’t figure out how that was possible until she finally started laughing and told me that she was moving her head away from the unit every time I went to take it just to mess with me.”

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?

“I love hanging out with my family! I’m very, very close to them! I love playing and watching sports and trying new fun activities. Also, I recently became involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters and I love hanging out with my little sister and everyone involved in that organization.”

What do you enjoy most about being a dental assistant?

“Most of all I love our patients and my coworkers! Dental assisting is so much fun because there’s so much variety in our day-to-day tasks. I also love that assistants have to have a comprehensive knowledge of everything dentistry as well clinical skills.”

We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Kim a little better. Here at our practice we feel really fortunate to have her as a member of our awesome team.
